1000W of unfiltered grunt, 20×4″ fat tyres and a 200kg payload. Why the RatKat Vooee is the coastal escape pod we've been waiting for.
We live in a world of concrete stalemates, overpriced caffeine and the slow grind of the civilised commute. On the fringes — where the salt mist eats your gate and the tide dictates the day — you need a different kind of machine. Not transport. An escape pod. A vessel that moves at the speed of instinct.
The RatKat Vooee is exactly that. A high-torque, fat-tyred anomaly designed to bridge the distance between your garage and the empty peak — built so you spend less time in the car park and more time throwing buckets.
1000W of unfiltered grunt
The Vooee is anchored by a BAFANG 1000W rear hub motor — a power plant that feels less like assistance and more like a slingshot. Loaded with a board, a soggy 4/3 and the general weight of existence, you need a motor that doesn't stutter. The Vooee delivers an instant surge of torque that flattens the steepest coastal headlands into a cruise. Fed by a 52V 20Ah Samsung battery, it'll punch out up to 80km on a single charge.
The footprint: 20×4″ fat tyres
Those fat tyres aren't for show — they're the interface between you and the chaotic Australian coastline. Most bikes feel like they're walking on eggshells the moment the pavement turns to gravel or soft sand. Not this one. The Vooee is planted. Low centre of gravity, confident through fire trails and dune tracks. The step-up board of the e-bike world.
Australian road-legal, by design
To stay in the bicycle category — no licence, no rego, no red tape — the Vooee follows the national EN15194 blueprint:
- 250W continuous rated output on the road (the 1000W peak is reserved for private land).
- Pedal-assist cuts at 25 km/h. You can still pedal faster, the motor just bows out.
- Throttle is limited to 6 km/h walk-assist, in line with AU law.
- EN15194 build standard for battery, wiring and mechanical integrity.
Utility for the feral
The frame is a heavy-duty architecture rated to a 200kg payload — you, your gear, your board and a celebratory case of something cold for the sunset. Integrated lighting cuts through the salt-haze so you're not riding blind when the sun drops.
The verdict
The Vooee is a response to the homogenisation of modern life. It's for the rider who looks at a map and sees possibilities instead of traffic. Powerful, legal, and unapologetically loud in its design.
Ride ahead of the noise.
